Kyrgyzstan, World Bank to enhance cooperation

Kyrgyz Prime Minister Mukhammedkaliy Abylgaziyev met with World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia Lilia Burunciuc to discuss promising areas of cooperation, Xinhua with reference to the the Kyrgyz government's press service reported.

The Kyrgyz prime minister explained the new government's priorities to Burunciuc, which include improving the efficiency of public administration, the digitalization of the economy, and the development of regions and support for small and medium-sized businesses.

The current government led by Abylgaziyev took the oath of office in April.

Abylgaziyev said it was important to synchronize the government's priorities with the main directions of the new cooperation strategy developed by the World Bank.

Burunciuc said the financing of the domestic economy will be included in the draft of the new cooperation strategy between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank.

She also said that after the meeting between Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov and World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller in January this year, the financing of projects aimed at the country's development was identified as a priority.

Abylgaziyev said he was ready to strengthen cooperation and had instructed the relevant state bodies together with representatives of the World Bank to work out the draft for the new cooperation strategy.
