4.1-magnitude quake jolts SW Iran

An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale jolted Mianroud in southwestern Province of Khuzestan on Sunday, IRNA reported.

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 6:09 hours local time (1:39 GMT) in an area located at 32.26 degrees latitude and 48.42 degrees longitude and in the depth of 25 km underground.

The epicenter of the quake was registered at 4 km of Mianroud, 13 km of Chogha Mish and 14 km of Dezful.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
