Turkey is not a transit country for migrants, the country’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said, the Turkish media reported on December 15.

Turkey has already become an asylum for migrants, and they are not seeking refuge anywhere else, he said.

The prime minister noted that unlike European countries, Turkey perceives the problem of migrants and refugees as a humanitarian issue.

Yildirim also noted that Turkey created all the necessary conditions for the living of Syrian refugees.

More than three million Syrian refugees live in Turkey, and the country spent about $30 billion on their upkeep.

Syria has been suffering from an armed conflict since March 2011, which, according to the UN, has claimed more than 500,000 lives.

Militants from various armed groups are confronting the Syrian government troops. The “Islamic State”, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) are the most active terrorist groups in Syria.
