Over 80 PKK terrorists killed in airstrikes in northern Iraq

More than 80 PKK terrorists were killed, and a weapons depot was destroyed in counterterror operations carried out in northern Iraq's Asos region early this week, the Turkish military announced in a statement Wednesday.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for more than 30 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.

The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
