Uzbekistan to set up enterprises under penal institutions

Penal institutions in Uzbekistan will have enterprises established under them, in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The document provides for the creation of state unitary enterprises of production and agricultural profiles.

Previously, the Program on Measures to Develop the Activities of Penitentiary Institutions for 2018-2022 was adopted in the country, which envisages a gradual reduction in budget expenditures for the maintenance of these institutions through the development of their commercial activities.

Enterprises will be financed through the production and sale of their own goods (works, services), funds from the leasing of property, as well as other legitimate sources. The prices for goods (work and services) will be set by the directors of enterprises themselves on the basis of market conditions.

But the prices for the Main Directorate for the Execution of Sentences, its units and institutions will be coordinated with the Directorate.
