Belarus stands for the early establishment of a free trade zone for services and a full-fledged common market for public procurement in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

This was stated by Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov at a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government in a narrow composition on October 3, BelTA reported.

The work on creation of a free trade zone for services in the CIS countries has been carried out for more than six years.

The rapid completion of work on the agreement on the FTA services is a kind of guarantee for building a large regional center of modern and high-tech services on the basis of the CIS.

Another issue is the common market of public procurement. This is a key element of the free trade zone.

The openness and equality of the conditions for participation in this segment bear the potential for the growth of mutual trade between the Commonwealth states. It is therefore extremely important to fully implement all the agreements reached with all the CIS states being participants in these agreements.

The spectrum of cooperation within the CIS is wide enough, but its basis has been and remains the economic sphere. The Belarusian side continues to focus on issues such as building common markets and creating equal conditions for managing.

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was created in December 1991. The CIS united Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.

However, in 2008 Georgia withdrew its membership.
