A total solar eclipse will occur next month across the U.S. causing day ‘to turn to night’.

The solar eclipse will be much bigger compared to previous ones, APA reported with reference to Azerbaijan’s National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

A total solar eclipse occurs when the new Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, and totally blocks out the Sun.

On August 21, 2017, people across the United States will see the sun disappear behind the moon. The eclipse will last for 2 minutes 40 seconds and the lunar shadow will be 115 kilometers in width.

The previous time a total solar eclipse was visible across the entire United States during the June 8, 1918 eclipse.

The next solar eclipse is expected to happen on September 2, 2035, ANAS reported.
