Raids against Gulen supporters in Turkey’s banks

Turkish police launched raids against supporters of Fethullah Gulen in four banks of the country June 8 morning, Turkish media outlets reported.

The raids were carried out in such banks as Merkez Bankasi (The Central Bank of Turkey), Kalkinma Bankasi (Development Bank), Bank Asya and ?ller Bankasi (Ilbank).

Over 20 people were detained, their names and positions have not been disclosed.

The Turkish authorities accuse Fethullah Gulen, living in the US, of being involved in the military coup attempt in Turkey July 15, 2016.

On July 15, 2016 Turkish authorities said a military coup attempt took place in the country as a group of servicemen announced about transition of power to them. However, the rebelling servicemen started to surrender July 16 and Turkish authorities said the coup attempt failed.

The death toll as a result of the military coup attempt was over 200 people.
