Time goes by while the social and economic situation in Armenia does not evolve but even deteriorates. the objective impression is that the Armenian government does everything possible to bring down the people and turn them into submissive slaves.

The new government of Armenia that is in office for several months also seems to be loyal to this policy. Member of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), economist Vahagn Khachatryan, said the new government did not even contribute to well-being of Armenian people.

“I have seen no real progress so far," he said at the meeting of ANC. "I don't see any common program or strategy. All the steps that were taken did not lead to significant changes in our lives."

The main reason of that is corruption – the all-time problem of the Armenian government. Human rights activist Vardan Harutyunyan said corruption in Armenia is not incidental or episodic phenomenon.

“Over the years, corruption in Armenia has been a systemic phenomenon, and it involves the entire ruling system. I do not take seriously the steps of the authorities aimed at combating corruption,” he said in an interview with 1in.am.

The actions of the Armenian government against corruption are deceiving – the authorities have to imitate efforts in this direction as Armenia has obligations before international organizations, partner countries. However, the allocated money themselves get stolen because the government itself is involved in corruption.

"We cannot expect serious fighting, serious result of this struggle, as the steps taken by government are just opportunistic," said Harutyunyan.

This situation turns life in Armenian into gloom – people do not believe the authorities anymore. Hard life in the country forces them to leave Armenia forever, which leads to a vast decrease in the country’s population count.

Another part of Armenians decide to join sects, which are in a great variety in the country. Today, about 350,000 people in Armenia are involved in sects, 250,000 of which are the followers of destructive sectarian organizations.

“A total of 65 religious organizations are registered in Armenia today, while about 54 of them are sects. Moreover, 200 organizations are not registered, but in fact are active in the country,” said the Head of the Centre for rehabilitation and assistance to the victims of destructive cults, Alexander Amaryan, at the meeting of the Eurasian Expert Club in Yerevan.

The sects have penetrated in all spheres of the Armenian society – they are involved in publishing, education, construction, social networks, as well as do charity works.

In this context, Armenia can soon turn into the battlefield of civil war as destructive sects gain much popularity in the country. This risk is high enough, until the Armenian government stops thinking about its wallet only and starts doing something useful for ordinary population.
