Russia and the European Commission have agreed to hold trilateral talks on gas with Ukraine, RIA Novosti quoted Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak as saying Nov.25.

He made the remarks following the talks with European Commission Vice-President for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic in Moscow.

“We discussed the implementation of the current contract with Ukraine and agreed with Sefcovic to hold a trilateral meeting with Ukrainian representatives to discuss the additional gas supply within the current contracts,” added Novak.

He pointed out that the gas price set by Russia’s Gazprom company for Ukraine is by $15-30 lower than on European spot markets, therefore, it is more more expedient for Kyiv to buy gas from Russia.
