Turkey continues to shell PKK positions in northern Iraq

Turkish air forces continue to shell positions of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist group in northern Iraq, the General Staff of Turkish Armed Forces said in a message June 9.

The Turkish air forces have destroyed six strongholds of the terrorists.

On June 8, Turkish air forces also implemented surgical strikes on the positions of PKK militants in northern Iraq.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said that the military operations will continue until the complete destruction of the PKK.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for over 25 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives. The UN and the European Union listed the PKK as a terrorist organization.
