Iran's Deputy FM: No military option envisaged for regional crises

Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs underlined that the regional crises do not have a military solution and the only option for strengthening peace and stability in Syria and Yemen and the rest of the region is diplomacy,IRNA reported.

"Regional conflicts, especially the crises in Syria and Yemen, do not have military solutions and the only option is to consolidate peace and stability in these two countries and the region, resorting to rationality and political solutions," Hossein Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with Japanese Foreign Ministry's director general for the Middle East in Tehran on Monday.

He reiterated that Iran's relations with its neighboring countries in the Persian Gulf has always been based on historical and cultural ties, and said, "Our policy has always been based on principles of neighborliness and further upgrading of relations with these countries."

The Japanese diplomat, for his part, pointed to the Islamic Republic of Iran's important role in helping to restore peace and stability to the region, and reiterated on the need for consultations between the two countries.

He also discussed the ways for sending humanitarian aids to Syrian's crisis-hit regions and Iran's support for such measures.
