Fire erupted in a forest in Iran's Astara was due to carelessness, said Sarkhosh Karamzadeh, head of Astara’s Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization.
Karamzadeh said the fire, initially set up by campers there, was later spread due to warm winds in the area, ISNA news agency reported Jan. 21.
The fire destroyed almost 26,000 square meters of the forest area in the region, he said, adding that it was later put down with help from local authorities and locals.
