Preparatory work is underway in Turkmenistan as part of the project for constructing the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline, said the message from the country’s Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources.
Construction work on this project will start in December 2015 on the basis of the program for development of Turkmenistan’s oil and gas industry by 2030, according to the message.
One of the main tasks is to measure the pipeline’s route. Currently this work is carried out by the specialists from the Institute of Oil and Gas of Turkmengaz state concern.
The total length of the gas pipeline running through Turkmenistan’s territory exceeds 200 kilometers.
The basic document of TAPI is the interstate agreement signed by the participating states in Ashgabat in 2010 on starting the practical implementation of this project.
Its design capacity is up to 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The project’s cost is estimated at approximately $10 billion.
