The Armenian Congress recently stated that there is no hope for the country in the nearest future but only hunger, deprivation, and poverty.

The Congress issued a statement which noted that processes in the global economy and the sharp depreciation of the Russian ruble once again have created difficult conditions for thousands of Armenian emigrants working in Russia.

According to the latest official statistics, Armenia’s trade turnover decreased by more than 30 percent, unemployment has reached 20 percent, 32 percent of the population is considered poor, and foreign direct investments fell by more than 40 percent.

Entrepreneurs in Armenia are closing their business on a grand scale while the migration rate is only rising in this small post Soviet country as many are seeking better opportunities and quality of life abroad.

In recent decades, the government intentionally destroyed private initiatives and economic competition within the middle class creating a plunder monopoly system that now serves the government’s interests. It is obvious that the state of Armenia's economy and its vulnerability are primarily the result of the reign of the current criminal regime in the country.

While other neighboring countries do everything to keep the country’s economy stable and people’s living standards worthy, the Armenian government is in a complete deadlock.

On the one hand, the conditions of ruble’s depreciation require the depreciation of dram and the implementation of anti-crisis measures. On the other, it is obvious that in the conditions of the closed monopoly created by the government, such steps will lead to uncontrolled panic among the people and a rise in prices when the nation is already starving.

The situation is also exacerbated because, instead of taking steps to take the country out of this crisis situation, the authorities intend to implement constitutional reforms to ensure the perpetuity of the Serzh Sargsyan regime, which is to blame for leading the country into the current situation.

The government’s policy will create more ruined lives and a new wave of emigration.
