Turkmenistan and South Korea have exchanged information on their experiences in water management.

The exchange was conducted as part of a forum on water management organized by Turkmen Water Resources Ministry and the Korean Embassy in Ashgabat, the Turkmen government reported on July 8.

Korean companies gave presentations on their experiences in the creation of an advanced integrated system of water supply management, water purification and desalination, quality control, and the development of the Smart nuclear power plant.

Leading Korean K-water Company, a service provider in this field, presented on river restoration projects, including the construction of multi-purpose dams and other hydropower projects, as well as on flood protection and drought management.

During the event, Turkmenistan was represented by specialists and experts from the relevant ministries, as well as by officials from the Ashgabat city administration, and Turkmenistan’s Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

The visit of Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov to South Korea in April 2015 gave an impetus to develop bilateral relations in this field. During the visit, the head of state attended the 7th World Water Summit held in the city of Daegu entitled “Water for our future”.

Turkmenistan and South Korea are showing their willingness to reinforce the relations between the two countries. Their total trade turnover has increased from $200 million to 1.9 billion in recent years.

The bilateral relations cover trade, economic, scientific, and technological cooperation.
