Project implementation within “Turkish Stream” goes according to schedule – Gazprom

The project implementation of the Southern Corridor pipeline system, which is necessary for the flow of gas through the planned Turkish Stream, goes according to schedule, the company Gazprom told Trend July 8.

“The Southern Corridor project is being implemented according to schedule,” the company said. “Approaches to optimize the commissioning terms of capacities and the most efficient use of contractor-construction complex are being explored.”

Earlier it was reported that Gazprom decided to suspend the expansion of the unified system of gas pipelines, which were planned to be used within the framework of the Turkish Stream project.

The Southern Corridor gas transmission network expansion program includes the construction of 10 compressor stations and two lines of the gas pipeline with a length of 2,500 kilometers in total, which are capable of transmitting 63 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

The Southern Corridor gas pipelines system, in particular, is provided to ensure the uninterrupted supply of gas to the main gas pipeline in the direction of Turkey, the Turkish Stream. The project implementation period is 2010-2017.

Gas for the marine part of the Turkish Stream should go via two pipes of the eastern and western routes of the Southern Corridor, one pipe will satisfy the needs of the first and second lines of the Turkish Stream, while the other pipe will satisfy the needs of the third and fourth lines.

The offshore section of the "Turkish Stream" pipeline will consist of four parallel branches of the gas pipelines with a length over 900 kilometers, passing through the Black Sea.

The offshore gas pipeline will begin near the city of Anapa in Russia and will reach the Turkish coast 100 kilometers west of Istanbul, near the settlement of K?y?koy.

Then an onshore gas pipeline will be built. It will connect the offshore section with the existing gas transportation system of Turkey near the city of Lüleburgaz and from there it will reach its end point near the city of ?psala.

Earlier it was reported that the pipe-lay vessel of the Italian Saipem - Castoro sei company headed to the Russian shores of the Black Sea to prepare for the construction of the offshore section of the Turkish Stream.
