The European Union’s Ambassador to Georgia, Janos Herman delivered the EU appreciation to the Georgian government for high-level achievements in the country’s Public Administration Reform.

In a letter sent to Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, Herman said Georgia has clearly demonstrated its desire to undertake "crucial reforms", adding that the degree and quality of cooperation between the EU and Georgia in this regard was important.

Herman noted that the creation of the upcoming program in the area of the Public Administration Reform was almost completed "in close coordination with Georgia's service institutions and several ministries" and the Reform Road-map will be adopted by the end of May.

"Georgia's commitment to having the Public Administration Reform Road-map adopted by the end of May allowed for envisaging strategic and reciprocal support to the reforms, with budget support as one of the main modalities of assistance," he noted.

Herman also thanked the Georgian leadership for its letter dating March 4, 2015, where it expressed the government’s clear and firm commitment on the path of reforms in the field of public administration. He said the letter had been transmitted to the EU institutions in Brussels as a strong signal of the importance given by the Georgian government to these crucial reforms.

The EU ambassador particularly expressed appreciation for the work of the two units of the Georgian government's administration - Policy Planning and Innovation, and Donor Coordination.

"We also take good note of the comprehensive Donor’s Coordination mechanism being set up, including in the area of good governance," Herman said in his letter.
