Iran holds cyber defense exercise

Iran is holding cyber defense exercises in five provinces, head of the Islamic Republic’s Passive Defense Organization, Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali said, the official IRNA news agency reported Oct. 29.

Testing the official organizations’ resistance against cyber threats is among the goals of the drill, Jalali said.

For the first time, Iran held security operations center (SOC) drill in the Telecommunication Infrastructure Company of the Communications and Information Technology Ministry, he added.

Early in May, Jalali underlined his organization's full preparedness to defend the country against any possible cyber attacks by enemy states, and informed that Iran plans to make use of an indigenous cyber defense system in near future.

Speaking at the second national conference on cyber defense, Jalali underlined the necessity for nationwide preparedness against “enemies' cyber threats.”

Jalali noted that Iran should consider developing a smart domestic cyber defense model as a top priority. In relevant remarks in June, Deputy Head of Passive Defense Organization Brigadier General Gholam Ali Heidari said his organization enjoys necessary equipment and experienced experts to defend Iran against enemies' cyber attacks.
