The government is to approve a migration strategy soon, Minister of Justice Tea Tsulukiani told journalists before the beginning of the sixth extraordinary meeting of the government commission.
According to him, Georgia should have a strategy for a migration policy. This y was developed mainly by three structures: the Ministries of Justice and Internal Affairs and the administration of the Minister on Diaspora issues.
"Today we are meeting to discuss the action plan for the next several years and make a report. Very soon the government will approve the migration strategy being prepared together with the EU," she said.
Tsulukiani highlighted that the strategy should meet both European standards and the national interests.
"We should pass through this stage to finish the negotiations successfully with the EU," she noted.
Experts of international organisations working in the sphere of migration are also participating at the meeting. The event organised by the Secretariat of the Public Service Development Agency of Georgia is being held with the support of the EU.
