Turkey is interested in investing in the energy sector of Afghanistan, the Sabah newspaper quotes Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz as saying on Tuesday.
Yildiz said that Afghanistan has rich water resources that can be used in the energy sector.
"During my meetings with Afghan counterparts, they said Afghanistan is also interested in Turkish investments in the country's energy sector," Yildiz underscored.
He added that four Turkish companies have won the tender for gold exploration in Afghanistan.
Yildiz said the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) will invest $100 million in Afghanistan in the first phase.
According to Yildiz, TPAO won the tender for oil exploration and production in the Afghan province Mazar-i-Sharif.
