Turkish president announces amnesty

Turkish President Abdullah Gul has recently signed an amnesty decree, which covers 15.400 convicts, CNN Turk TV channel reported.

Some 400 of the amnestied prisoners are seriously ill.

Prisoners will be released within a week from today. The decree applies to prisoners of six Turkish provinces.
