Saakashvili urges new government to fulfill campaign promises

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili calls on the new government to fulfill campaign promises instead of "revenge". He said about it during the meeting with young people at the presidential palace on Tuesday.

The president said the new government representatives have made some statements in the last days from which it can be concluded that the detentions will continue and will affect many political opponents of Georgian Dream.

A political coalition of Bidzina Ivanishvili Georgian Dream came to power after the parliamentary elections in Georgia on October 1. United National Movement, the leader of which is still the president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, was transferred to the opposition.

Sixteen high-ranking officials of the old government, including former Defense Minister and Interior Bacho Akhalaia were detained by law enforcement bodies of Georgia over the last ten days.
