Georgian PM meets SOCAR President

10 November 2012 [09:40] - TODAY.AZ
Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili and President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev discussed cooperation in the field of energy resources supply in Tbilisi on Friday.

The meeting, which was of an introductory character, was attended by Georgian Energy and Natural Resources Minister, Kakha Kaladze and Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

As Ivanishvili told journalists after the meeting, the sides discussed issues of gas and oil supply.

"We talked about our relationship, which is very good and exemplary, as well as about how we treat the neighboring country. However, the discussions touched upon high-level meetings, in particular meeting with the president," Ivanishvili said.

With regard to tariffs for gas and oil, according to Ivanishvili, there was no specific discussion on this topic, though "the government attempts to reduce them".

"I think there are more problems in connection with tariffs inside, which should be solved, as tariffs are increased artificially. Georgian government would certainly try to lower tariffs," he said.
