Ankara condemns Israel’s settlement building

08 November 2012 [18:11] - TODAY.AZ
The Turkish Foreign Ministry has condemned the building of Israeli settlements on East Jerusalem and the West Bank, a statement on the official website of Turkey's Foreign Ministry said.

The statement emphasises that Israel's continued development of settlements in the occupied Palestinian lands complicates the peace process.

Previously it was reported that the Israeli authorities are planning to build 1285 homes for Jews in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

The continuation of Tel Aviv's settlement building on Palestinian land was the reason for the failure of the Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations two years ago.

The Palestinians refuse to resume negotiations until Israel stops building housing in the occupied West Bank and in East Jerusalem.

Israel in turn, offers to resume the dialogue without preconditions.
