Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili called on the new government and Parliament to rise above personal interests and put the public interest above all else. Mikhail Saakashvili stated in his speech on Wednesday that the opposition can bring a deteriorating of the situation in the country and the deterioration of the image of Georgia abroad, and it concerns him.
"We need to rise above personal grievances and engage in a dialogue, which, unfortunately, has stalled in recent days, and went into open confrontation, it's a concern," he said.
Georgian President called on the government to respect the army, which has played its role and is an institution of protection of the state.
Saakashvili said the entrance of the tax service into the Georgian Public Broadcasting is unacceptable and doesn't improve its performance.
"All these steps lead to the conclusion that there is an intentional work to collapse the democracy in the country, which is very dangerous on the eve of NATO ministerial, on which we can stand together," he said.
The Georgian president urges the two largest parties, the government, the parliamentary minority and the majority to engage in dialogue and address issues of national importance together.
