Turkey continues reforms to join EU

18 October 2012 [13:10] - TODAY.AZ
Ankara continues to hold reforms to join the European Union, and it has not abandoned the EU standards, Anadolu agency quotes Turkish Minister for EU Affairs Egemen Bagis, as saying on Thursday.

According to Bagis, Ankara's dissatisfaction with double standards applied by the EU to Turkey does not mean abandoning plans to join the European Union.

Earlier Bagis said Turkey is displeased with double standards that the EU applies to it, and Ankara has enough potential to be a member of the European Union, Europe.

Negotiations on Turkey's EU membership have been held since 2005. Despite the support of most EU members, France and Germany persistenly refuse to grant it a full membership, proposing instead "privileged partnership", with which Turkey does not agree.
