Head of Kurdistan Workers’ Party in Europe arrested

11 October 2012 [12:35] - TODAY.AZ
Paris Court took a decision to arrest head of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party in Europe Adem Uzun, who was detained last Saturday, the Turkish Sabah newspaper reported.

Three active functionaries of the PKK in Europe were also detained together with Uzun. It is assumed that the detainees were planning to purchase anti-tank missiles and other weapons worth around 1.2 million euros and send it to the north of Iraq.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state has been on-going for more than 25 years claiming over 40,000 lives. The PKK group is recognised as a terrorist organisation by the UN and the European Union.
