Three people involved in an insurance fraud of 2010, have been sentenced to life in prison, Iranian judiciary spokesman Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei said, ISNA reported.
Ejei noted that the court has completed the hearings on the cases, and the verdicts on the defendants were voiced.
He said that some defendants were sentenced to life in prison, others were sentenced to 15, 23, 25 years behind bars.
He added that some of the defendants had to pay $8 million fine, others were discharged from their posts temporarily or permanently.
Iranian first vice president Mohammad Reza Rahimi happens to be a part of the issue, as he has been accused of the same insurance fraud in 2010.
In 2009 Rahimi became the first Vice President of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and a year later he was accused of insurance fraud of over $1 million.
Based on the claims of at least two members of Iranian Parliament (Majlis), Rahimi was the head of a corruption band that became known as Fatemi Circle.
