01 October 2012 [11:21] - TODAY.AZ
There has been no official contact made with the U.S. officials in New York, during the UN General Assembly meeting, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said, ISNA reported.

"There was no official contact made with the U.S. authorities, and there will not be any," Mehmanparast said. "Our foreign policy regarding the U.S. is clear."

Mehmanparast noted that all decisions in the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding foreign policy, is coordinated with senior officials, and the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Despite there were no official encounters, according to Mehmanparast, Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has reportedly met with the U.S. students and academicians on the sidelines of the conference and talked to them.

Ahmadinejad also spoke about the possibilities of how Iran and the U.S. can improve their relations - a move that caused negative reaction in Iran, namely in country's Majlis (parliament), whose members were dissatistfied with the President's statements.

Today is the sixth and final day of speeches at the UN General Assembly.
