Iran must use its influence to stop the violence and bloodshed in Syria and resolve the crisis, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said at a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in New York, CNN Turk TV channel said.

Davutoglu said that trilateral meetings of Egypt, Iran and Turkey are very important in resolving the Syrian crisis and in particular, he said, the last tripartite meeting in Cairo was significant.
President Ahmedinejad said that Iran exerts efforts for a peaceful and diplomatic settlement of the Syrian crisis and will continue working in this direction.

The parties have also discussed other issues of the Islamic world and in particular the issue of growing Islam phobia in the West, the food crisis in Somalia and Muslims in Myanmar.

According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 20,000.
