EU, Turkey mull Syrian issue

EU High Representative for External Affairs Catherine Ashton and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu discussed Syria and Syrian refugees on Thursday Today`s Zaman reproted

Ashton called Davuto?lu to exchange views on the latest developments in Syria. Davutoglu also briefed the high representative on the Syrian refugees.

Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for about 17 months.

According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 20,000. More than 230,000 people became refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
