U.S. State Department delegation led by Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Beth Jones will arrive in Turkey on Wednesday to discuss the situation in Syria, the newspaper Sabah reported.
The delegation also includes representatives of the Ministry of Defense and U.S. intelligence.
The visit will take place within the framework of agreements between Turkey and the U.S. on joint action on the situation in Syria, which were reached during the visit of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Turkey on August 11.
Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for about 17 months.
According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria has exceeded 17,000 people. About 230,000 people became refugees. About three million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say that they oppose the well-armed militants.
