Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed issues of regional security and stability at a meeting in Istanbul. According to the administration of President of Georgia, the parties spoke in favor of deepening the regional cooperation.
Erdogan has clearly supported the aspirations of Georgia towards NATO, wishing Georgia every success along this way.
The parties also discussed the situation in Georgia, the reforms held here, as well as preparation for future parliamentary elections.
Georgia's President and Turkish Prime Minister touched upon the issues of strategic cooperation, the implementation of joint projects with Azerbaijan for the construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, Caspian energy supplies to Europe, noting their importance for regional stability and economic development of the three countries.
