Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has expressed hope that the change in the French government would lead to an improvement in the relations between Tehran and Paris.
In his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Mehmanparast said the latest presidential election in France indicated public dissatisfaction with outgoing President Nicolas Sarkozy’s policies.
Mehmanparast said the public dissatisfaction was probably caused by France’s approach towards developments in the Middle East, the issue of Afghanistan, the Iranian nation and the wrong policies that resulted from following US policies.
The Iranian official said there were great potentials for cooperation between Iran and the European countries, expressing hope that the change in the French government would improve bilateral ties.
