Russia has warned that mounting pressure on Iran by way of sanctions over Tehran’s nuclear energy program is “counter-productive and dangerous.”
Russia believes that attempts at whipping up tensions around the Iranian nuclear energy program and finding a pretext for further sanctions against Tehran are dangerous, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday, Voice of Russia reported.
Lavrov made the remarks in a Monday meeting with visiting Israeli official Yaakov Amidror, and added that Moscow was opposed to using military force against Iran.
Lavrov stressed that problems facing regional countries must be resolved through national dialogue and without violence or outside interference.
