Georgia’s Upper Lars border checkpoint closed

Georgia’s Upper Lars border checkpoint has been closed due to heavy snowfalls and the threat of avalanche following an overnight storm that also blanketed Armenia.

The passageway – a major communications trade-way between Iran, Armenia, Georgia and Russia – is expected to be shut for the next three days, and forecasts call for continued snow.
