Georgia is ready for talks with Russia. However, the main issue is the purpose of the negotiations. The statement was made today by Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze at a PACE session. The Dutch MP asked the minister about the prospects of a Georgian-Russian dialogue.
"Russia does not want to talk to the Georgian democratically elected government," Vashadze said. "After the elections of 2012-2013, a new government will be chosen. I assure you that Russia will not speak with it because Russia put itself in a catastrophic legal deadlock by recognizing the occupied regions."
