In a year, direct railway traffic will link Georgia with Europe, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said on a visit to Turkey. He said the first passengers will get to Europe in 2013 by the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway, which Georgia is constructing with Turkey and Azerbaijan.
Accordingly, as Saakashvili said, Turkey is Georgia's window to Europe. At the same time, he said Georgia's economic development is largely due to the close cooperation with Turkey. Georgia received a loan worth over $700 million from Azerbaijan to implement the railway project.
