U.S. to mull issues on Iran with Turkey

09 January 2012 [10:33] - TODAY.AZ
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns is due to visit Ankara on Monday for talks with Turkish officials, semi-official Anatolia news agency reported . Citing diplomatic sources, Anatolia said Burns will spend 30 hours in Turkey, having talks with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Feridun Sinirlioğlu.

Burns' visit to Ankara comes in the wake of Davutoğlu's talks with top Iranian officials in Tehran last week, following which Davutoğlu said talks between Iran and major world powers on Tehran's nuclear program will resume soon. In remarks published in a Japanese newspaper on Sunday, Davutoğlu said both sides have agreed to resume talks soon in Turkey. In addition to Iran, developments in Iraq and Syria are also expected to be discussed during Burns' visit to Turkey.
