Turkey's ambassador to France will return to Paris in the coming days to lobby the French Senate against the adoption of a bill making it a crime to deny that Armenians suffered "genocide", the Turkish embassy in Paris confirmed Wednesday.
"He will come back in four or five days time," embassy spokesman Engin Solakoglu told dpa. "He will try stop this bill being adopted by the Senate."
Solakoglu said Turkey, which recalled its ambassador on December 22 after the lower house of the French parliament adopted the bill, might further downgrade its ties with France if the Senate passed the bill and made it into law.
