Azerbaijan's gas supplies helps Georgia to avoid Russian dependence

Gas supplies from Azerbaijan allowed Georgia to avoid dependence on Russian gas, First Deputy Speaker Mikheil Machavariani said in Baku. Machavariani said that Azerbaijan and Georgia agreed on gas supply. This allows Georgia not to depend on Russian gas. "In fact, we do not use Russian gas," he said. "Russia can not use the price on this fuel as a lever of pressure, as it does this with Ukraine, Belarus and European countries."
