“I support the House Subcommittee's on State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs decision to provide no more than $ 40 million aid to Armenia and stop all aid to the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. The Senate Appropriations Committee also did not set aside any monies for that Armenia-occupied region where a criminal secessionist junta rules,” an American student’s letter reads. It was published in the Chicopee Register under the title ‘Countries that work against the U.S. not entitled to aid’.
“As an American taxpayer with great interest in foreign affairs and aid, I am concerned about our excessive spending, such as on foreign aid to nations that work against us and kill our soldiers. Yes, I know that foreign aid is just one percent of the total budget, but I feel strongly that even $ 1 should not be sent to nations that work against US Since the Senate and House are basically stuck in passing appropriations bills, and are considering a FY2012 minibus appropriations bill for foreign aid, I would like to make my views very clear on this.”
"This issue is extremely important to me and my family. I believe that it is absolutely illegal and immoral to provide any funds to the Armenia – occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. We have high unemployment and foreclosures, declining real incomes and starving children, skyrocketing poverty, rising inflation and healthcare premiums so the millions that some in Congress (and contrary to the wishes of the Administration) want to send overseas to
please their donors, should actually stay here in the US, and be spent here in the US."
She urged to absolutely stop aid to the Armenia occupied Nagorno-Karabakh (NK) region Azerbaijan. “The NK authorities are a military junta that occupied Azerbaijani lands and shouldn’t be rewarded with any aid under any pretext or guise!” the letter reads. “Aid to Armenia should be at no more than $ 40 million (asset by the State and Foreign Operations Subcommittee), which despite getting billions in US aid has been doing worse and worse every year in every aspect, from democracy and human rights to compliance with international and US laws.”
The author also calls on to completely remove the discriminatory Section 907 of Freedom Support Act of 1992.
