Canada hosts conference marking 20th jubilee of Azerbaijan`s independence

A scientific conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the restoration of independence of Azerbaijan was held in Ottawa, Canada. The conference was co-organized by Azerbaijan Embassy in Canada and the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (EURUS) at Carleton University.

According to Azerbaijan Embassy in Canada, the conference discussed political and economical issues of Azerbaijan, the development of national personality, history, language and others.

The conference featured reports by director of the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies and conference moderator Jeff Sahadeo, research associate of EURUS Dr. Robert Cutler, Professor of the Department of History, University of Massachusetts Amherst Dr. Audrey Alstadt, professor of the University of Ottawa Dr. Mathieu Courville, PhD Candidate in the Centre for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies Melita Kuburas.

Officials of governmental bodies of Canada, representatives of local community, teachers and students of the University of Ottawa attended the conference.
