Mahmud Mammadguliyev: Catherine Ashton’s visit to Azerbaijan will positively affect EU-Azerbaijan relations

“Undoubtedly, the visit of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton to Azerbaijan scheduled to November 15 will positively affect the relations between our country and the European Union.

This visit will provide the basis for further strengthening of relations and establishment of close relations”, Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev said. Deputy Minister also added that the high level meetings would be held within the visit.

Mammadguliyev didn’t exclude the start of negotiations of visa facilitations between EU and Azerbaijan: “The talk between EU and Azerbaijan on visa regime is another topic. We have been waiting for a decision of the European Union Council on it. We don’t have this decision up to now. This issue can be declared within Catherine Ashton’s visit. But I don’t have the concrete information about it”.
