Azerbaijan’s UNSC membership can influence Nagorno Karabakh conflict

Azerbaijan's election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (UNSC) means it will be able to show its real power not only in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but also in other global issues and will enhance its international image, Director of European Programs at the International Crisis Group Sabina Fraser told journalists in Baku on Friday.

"Of course, the Security Council's agenda will also include the issues of democracy and human rights," Miss Fraser said.

Fraser said if a power change takes place with the Armenian government, this will have a direct effect in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. Azerbaijan has now been elected a UNSC non-permanent member for 2012 - 2013.
