20th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s independence marked in Tabriz

Azerbaijan`s Consulate General in Tabriz has hosted an official reception over the 20th anniversary of the country`s independence. The event brought together Iranian officials, employees of Turkish Consulate General in Tabriz, prominent figures of the city and journalists.
Participants of the reception watched a documentary film “Azerbaijan”.

Addressing the event, Azerbaijani Consul General Ali Alizade highlighted the country`s great achievements. “The foundation of modern country was laid in Azerbaijan by national leader Heydar Aliyev. And this policy is today being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev,” added the Consul General.

He said development of Azerbaijan-Iran relations meet interests of the two countries` peoples.
Alizade briefed participants on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Official of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Rza Yagubi congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the Independence Day.

Yagubi stressed the importance of development of relations between Iran and Azerbaijan.
