Ex-Slovakian President visits Azerbaijan`s Shaki region

Former President of Slovakia Rudolf Schuster, who attended the Baku International Humanitarian Forum on the "XXI century: hopes and challenges", visited Shaki, a region in the northwest of Azerbaijan to view its must-see places on Wednesday. The visit started from Kish village where he viewed an ancient Albanian church, which is preserved on the government-level as a historic and architectural monument.

Schuster visited Palace of the Khans, the city`s landmark monument which dates back to the 18th century. Former President also familiarized himself with Yukhary Caravanserai (Upper Caravanserai) hotel complex built in the end of the XVIII century and the beginning of the XIX century.

Shaki governor Elkhan Usubov presented a memorial gift about Shaki to Schuster.
Mr. Schuster expressed satisfaction with his Azerbaijan trip, saying “Shaki is a city with no analog”. He also stressed his meeting with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev.

“I see that the development process is not carrying out in Baku, but also in the regions. Orders, decisions signed by Ilham Aliyev on the social-economic development of the regions have a great role in this process” he added.
