President of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences Mahmud Karimov severely condemned Armenia at the 55th session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held in Vienna.
Karimov said that in his report at the session’s meeting held on September 21, he informed about threat of Armenia’s “Metsamor” Nuclear Power Plant to the region, and the importance of its closing due to this reason: “In my speech, I noted that Metsamor NPP is useless and dangerous station. The European Union also expressed necessity of closing this plant. Despite the regular inspections of the international organizations in this plant, the results of these inspections are kept secret and no information is given to Azerbaijan on it.
Regional countries – Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia repeatedly proposed allowing the specialists of these countries to examine Metsamor NPP. But the reports on Metsamor NPP are unavailable for these three countries. I demanded to make the plant’s activity transparent, and to submit the reports to the regional countries.
ANAS President said that in their speeches, the Armenian representatives accused Azerbaijan of abusing its interest from IAEA tribune and unprofessional speech: “In my speech, I said once again that we will raise this question again until Armenia submits the reports on Metsamor NPP to the regional countries as well as we will use IAEA tribune”.
