23 August 2011 [15:11] - TODAY.AZ
Statements ascribed to Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mahmoud-Reza Sajjadi by the Armenian media are the handiwork of forces that do not wish the development of the Iranian-Azerbaijani and Iranian-Russian relations, advisor to the Iranian Embassy in Moscow Veliyullah Zergeri belives.

"The Embassy refutes that Sajjadi in an interview with the Armenian edition Noev Kovcheg used the phrase"government told Trend over telephone from Moscow.

The Armenian edition Noev Kovcheg has published a provocative interview with Iranian Ambassador to Russia Reza Mahmoud-Reza Sajjadi, in which the newspaper was trying hard to make the Iranian ambassador to "recognize" the separatist regime of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Iran's position on the Nagorno Karabakh issue is clear - Iran supports the peaceful settlement of the conflict, Zergeri said.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry is investigating the issue, First Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Press Service Elman Abdullayev said. The Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran is given appropriate instructions regarding this statement of Iranian diplomat.
